After the service we were free for 2 hours so Agnes n I walked around and had a downtown tour on a small bus.
The Roman's Northern gate in the wall around Trier built in 182 AD with sandstone that turned blackish over the years but this serves as a protective cover from the elements. Though 60 % of Trier was damaged this structure remained.
The emperor's throne room. It is 70 metres long. That is the length that everyone had to walk in order to stand before him!
It is now being used as a church.
Then we had a two hour walking tour which was very informative. We visited structures and buildings from 200 AD. Amazing the amount of material and work went into these buildings!
Standing before the Roman gate.
The Roman wall.
Cathedrals and such!
After this tour we had a two hour, very scenic, drive to Worms, Germany where we had a tasty dinner and checked in for the night. After the meal most of us walked in the downton area to use up some of the calories still remaining fom the day's meals but also to enjoy the sights and beautiful summer air!
Now it is time for a catch up on our missed sleep so we can get up in time for breakfast.

keep enjoying the great history and scenery, and judging by the smiles on your faces i trust you are
ReplyDeleteInterestingly, we had a friend over the other day from Germany. He graduated with Lenora. He's from Tubingen.
